Esta cuidadosa edición crítica permite leer con garantías una obra que encierra un gran «interés para observar la confluencia de géneros y estructuras en la narrativa del siglo XVII, así como para entender ciertos aspectos de la problemática social en la época de Felipe III» (pág. 15). El amplio estudio introductorio y la edición que ahora queda fijada en esta monografía la convierten en el trabajo de mayor profundidad publicado hasta la fecha y dedicado a la Guía y avisos de forasteros. No acudir a este libro cuando se quiera leer o estudiar la colección de avisos y novelas de Liñán y Verdugo es, cuando menos, un descuido casi imperdonable.

This careful critical edition offers with guarantees the text of a work that holds great interest to observe the convergence of genres and narrative structures in the seventeenth century, and to understand certain aspects of the social problems in the time of Philip III. The extensive introductory study and the critical text now fixed in this monography make it the deepest work published to date dedicated to the Guía y avisos. Not to go to this book if one wants to read or study Liñán y Verdugo's collection is at least an oversight almost unforgivable.
