Practitioner Perspectives
The Practitioner Section of the European Journal of Social Impact and Circular Economy is designed to provide a platform for professionals, practitioners, and field experts to share actionable insights, applied knowledge, and real-world experiences related to social impact and the circular economy. This section aims to bridge the gap between academic research and operational practice by welcoming contributions grounded in the daily realities of implementation, experimentation, and innovation.
Manuscripts submitted to this section should be in English or Italian language, considering a maximum of 8,000 words and may take the form of case studies, practice-based reflections, professional commentaries, or accounts of innovative initiatives. All submissions must be original and not under consideration elsewhere.
Each manuscript should include a clear and informative title, followed by an abstract of no more than 250 words summarizing the context, approach, key findings, and relevance of the work. Authors are required to provide four to six keywords to facilitate indexing and discovery. The structure of the article should follow a coherent narrative that includes a concise introduction to the issue addressed, a description of the operational or organizational context, a detailed account of the experience or practice, and a concluding discussion that highlights the implications, challenges, and recommendations arising from the contribution. Articles should also include a short “Practitioner Takeaways” section (three to five sentences) at the end, summarizing the main lessons and actionable insights for fellow professionals.
While academic in format, contributions should maintain a clear and accessible style, avoiding unnecessary jargon. Submissions may include tables and figures, provided they enhance the reader’s understanding. These must be of high quality and accompanied by explanatory captions. Any data presented should be clearly referenced, and authors are encouraged to share relevant materials or tools in the form of appendices or supplementary files.
Citations and references must be formatted consistently using a recognized academic style (e.g., APA). Full references should be included at the end of the manuscript, with digital object identifiers (DOIs) provided where available. All articles must be accompanied by a statement on potential conflicts of interest and sources of funding. If the article involves activities requiring ethical approval, this must be explicitly stated.
Only individuals who have made substantial intellectual contributions to the work should be listed as authors, and each submission must include an “Author Contributions” statement clarifying the role of each co-author. All manuscripts will be subject to review by an editorial board member with expertise in the relevant field. Evaluation criteria will include relevance to professional takeaways, clarity of writing, originality, and practical value.
Before submitting, authors should ensure that their manuscript adheres to the word count and structure guidelines (including the official template of the Journal), includes a complete reference list and appropriate declarations, and that all supplementary materials are clearly labeled and referenced.
This section is intended to become a separate space within the Journal, where practice meets reflection, and where professional knowledge contributes directly to the advancement of social impact and circular economy strategies.
