Un legislatore corinzio a Tebe: Filolao Bacchiade (Aristot. Pol. 1274 a 31 - b 5)

Abstract

The reasearch offers an allegoric interpretation of the chapter 12 of Aristotle’s Politics Book II (1274 a 31 – 1274 b 5) dealing with Philolaus Bacchiad’s legislative activity in Thebes. The analysis considers two elements of the text, that is the pederasty and the incest, because they are useful both to give an historical interpretation of the tale itself, and to clarify what historical period would have corrisponded better to the situation of crisis that the Bacchiad lawgiver was requested to normalize at Thebes.

La ricerca propone un’interpretazione allegorica del passo della Politica di Aristotele (1274 a 31 – 1274 b 5) relativo alla nomothesia del corinzio Filolao a Tebe, utilizzando come chiavi di lettura due elementi del testo - la pederastia e l’incesto - che, seppur apparentemente anomali, sostanziano invece di storicità il racconto e risultano altresì utili a chiarire quale periodo storico corrisponde meglio alla situazione di crisi che il Bacchiade fu chiamato a normalizzare nella polis beotica.
