Zwei Vorschläge zur Etymologie des ägyptischen Wortes „gɜ“ „Kranich“

Abstract

The present article deals with the etymology of the Old Egyptian bird-name “gɜ” “crane”. Two suggestions will be made. The first posits a relationship with the verb “gɜgɜ” “cackle”, a side form of “ngg” “cackle”. The second one starts with a connection with the root “gɜ” “sing”. The form of names can be documented also in modern languages.
