Abstract

Introduction

School in hospital and home education arise from the need to counteract educational dropout of  school-age inpatients.   This article proposes a teaching methodology realized through a digital app, useful for fostering a community of students who are interested in cinema and share stories using the app.

Materials and Methods

At the University of Turin, the Master’s "School in hospital: professional reality and teaching strategies for care" has been activated for years. Within the program, a project called the "EyeSchool" pertained a specific app. For the app development, it was used an IDE by Google, designed for the creation of Android applications.

Results

Despite having developed and tested the app through the tools offered by IDE Android Studio, it was not possible to implement it with the students due to the health pandemic. A very important expected result is the increase of dialogue and interactivity, the development of critical thinking through the fruition of filmic images, the discovery of the potential in autobiographical narration and the creation of a digital film library where every teacher can draw on good practices. educational. Guidance for a pilot phase is proposed in the article.

Conclusion

The EyeSchool app offers to students "pre-built" stimuli, which are strengthened through the interdependence between learners and teachers. Through the app, the teacher will be able to encourage students to tell their real or imaginary story, communicating their feelings to the group and transmitting their experience of illness and life to their classmates.
